Sasol is looking for Engineer in Training (EIT) graduate candidates to join them in the Sasol Synfuels Operations (SSO) environment. This is a 12 months NPE contract intended to provide graduate students with a structured programme and learning process in the workplace to facilitate sustainable talent development in support of the Sasol transformation agenda.
  • The positions require a minimum of a B.Eng / BSc. Degree in Chemical or  Mechanical Engineering with limited or no practical experience
  • Or will have a B.Eng / BSc. Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering by the end of 2017.
Purpose of Job /Role Intent:
  • Learn to use technical knowledge to assist business and deliver on targets.
  • Learn how to effectively work with managers and peers.
  • Continuously improve on knowledge relating to your field of work.
  • Gather information from various sources.
The graduate development program, is based on a three year development plan. The advert is based on the requirements for the 1st year only with different requirements for each of the following years. It is intended that the Graduate Chemical Engineer focus on the following main elements in order to build skills within operations:
  • Business Awareness,
  • Plant Processes,
  • Monitoring, Assessment and Optimisation of plant units, and
  • Operational Safety.
Within this training period the EIT will have an opportunity to be assessed after every 6 months to demonstrate competencies developed and highlight areas which require focus and at the end of the 36 month period in order to be declared competent. After being declared competent at the end of the 36 month period, you will become eligible to apply for vacant Engineer gr.I positions. (Subject to the availability of vacancies). Rotation to plant operations for 4-6 weeks of shift work. The structure of the period can be determined by the line manager, either a full shift cycle or only morning shift (therefore getting exposed to various shift groups).
