Internship at Arts & Culture Trust (ACT)

The Arts & Culture Trust (ACT), South Africa’s premier independent arts and culture funding and development agency, calls for applications from emerging arts administrators and recent arts graduates for a six-month full-time internship funded by The National Lotteries Commission (NLC).

The primary aim of ACT is to increase the amount of funding available for arts and culture initiatives, and to apply these funds to innovative, sustainable projects that make a meaningful contribution to society.

This Johannesburg-based opportunity will see the successful candidate gain significant experience and hands-on practical experience, as they work closely with the ACT team, providing support for ACT’s programmes, between May and October 2017.

ACT is seeking young graduates with a keen interest in arts administration and the South African arts and culture sector. The internship will offer training that will build upon the intern’s theoretical knowledge in an applied setting, which will contrast theory with practice.
While fostering a sense of professionalism, the internship is designed to refine the writing, verbal and analytical skills of the intern, as well as honing practical knowledge of systems such as WordPress, Hootsuite and Microsoft Office Suite. A strong work ethic and industry best practice will also be imparted on the chosen graduate.

Internship Programme at Artscape Theatre Centre

Artscape manages the Artscape Theatre Centre, complex which belongs to the Provincial Government of the Western Cape. Artscape is a facilitator of stage performances, community arts activities, training programmes as well as audience development initiatives to sustain all forms of performing arts.
Artscape Technical Training Academy hosts Workplace Integrated Learning Technical Internships in Stage Management, Stage Lighting, Stage Sound, Project Management and Wardrobe. Interns work alongside industry professionals with the purpose of providing training and practical experience towards a career in the technical aspects of theatre.
The internship programme is a youth programme and will provide an opportunity to gain practical work experience for a period of twelve (12) months, whereby successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend.
